Joining the CSA?

We so grateful for your interest and it would be an honor to grow for you!

Our CSA fills each season, and we often have more interest than available spots.

If you would like to be part of the Blue Heron Farm CSA, we encourage you to add your name to the waitlist. Being on the waitlist is the best way to hear about openings, additional shares, or future seasons as they become available.

Adding your name does not commit you to anything. It simply keeps you in the loop and helps us understand the level of interest as we plan for the season ahead.

We will reach out as spots open and share next steps when the time is right.

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. At its core, it is a partnership between a farm and the people it feeds.

When you join our CSA, you are committing to a season of eating locally grown food while directly supporting the work it takes to grow it. Your membership helps fund seeds, soil, labor, and infrastructure at the start of the season, when farms need it most. In return, you receive a weekly share of what is being harvested right here at Blue Heron Farm.

This model keeps food close to home and builds a stronger, more resilient local food system.

How Our CSA Works

Our CSA runs seasonally and reflects the rhythm of the farm. It is a 20-week seasonal subscription that usually starts mid-may and runs until the beginning of October.

Each week, members receive a share made up of fruits and vegetables that are ripe and ready. Shares change throughout the season as crops come in and fade out. Early weeks might feel more greens focused. Mid season is abundant and colorful. Fall brings roots, storage crops. And fingers crossed, throughout, the fruit that the orchard brings.

Our CSA is flexible and member focused. You get to choose what goes into your box from the available options that week. This helps reduce waste and lets you select food you know you will enjoy the most.

Pickup Days and Commitment

CSA members commit to a full season and choose one pickup day for the year.

We offer two pickup groups:

  • Tuesday pickup group

  • Friday pickup group

You will select your pickup day when you sign up, and that will be your assigned day for the season. This structure helps us harvest accurately and keep the system running smoothly.

Pickup takes place at the farm, where members can grab their box, or we offer delivery to Wilkerson and Bishop proper for an additional fee.

What You Will Receive

CSA shares reflect what is growing here and when. Over the course of the season, members can expect a wide variety of vegetables, orchard fruit, herbs, and occasional surprises from the farm.

This might include leafy greens, tomatoes, squash, carrots, cucumbers, stone fruit, apples, pears, and more, depending on the time of year.

Some weeks are heavier than others. Some weeks introduce new crops. This is seasonal eating as it truly is, and part of the experience is learning to cook and eat with what the land is offering.

Add Ons and Extras

CSA members can choose to add extra items to their weekly box when available. These may include flowers, dried fruit, or other farm products.

Add ons are optional and vary by season.

Why Join the CSA

Joining the CSA is about more than weekly groceries.

It is about knowing where your food comes from. About building a relationship with the land and the people growing your food. About showing up week after week and watching the seasons unfold.

CSA members help make this farm possible. Your support allows us to grow thoughtfully, care for the soil, and keep food rooted in this valley.

Is the CSA Right for You

Our CSA is a good fit if you enjoy seasonal eating, are open to variety, and want to support a local farm in a meaningful way.

It may not be the best fit if you need total predictability or are looking for the same items every week. Farming is shaped by weather, pests, and timing, and flexibility is part of the partnership.

We Would Love to Grow for You

The CSA is the heart of this farm. It is how we plan our fields, care for our orchard, and stay connected to the people we feed.

If you have questions, we are always happy to talk. If you are ready to join, we would be honored to grow food for you this season.

CSA gives you the opportunity to explore new fruits and vegetables while supporting your local farm.

Seasonal Produce

Your box will be filled with fruits and vegetables at the peak of ripeness.

Your CSA membership helps sustain local farming, strengthens our community, and supports sustainable, regenerative agriculture here in the Eastern Sierra.

Fresh Food Made Accessible

Partnering with Farm to Crag's CSA Support Program

Can't afford our CSA but really want to get fresh veggies this season? We believe good food should be accessible, and we know that cost can be a barrier.

This 2026 season, we have partnered with Farm to Crag to offer a limited number of subsidized CSA shares. These shares receive a $150 benefit to be applied to the cost of CSA membership.

Applicants apply directly through Farm to Crag. Recipients receive a code that can be used at checkout when signing up for the CSA. Availability is limited, and these shares are not fully funded, but they help make local food more accessible to more families in our community.

Eligible participants include individuals with an annual income of less than $50,000, households with two or more individuals making less than $90,000, and full-time students with a valid student ID.
