Q: What is a CSA and how does it work at Blue Heron Farm?
A: CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Members sign up for a weekly box of seasonal fruits and vegetables grown on our farm in Bishop, CA. Pick-ups are on set days.

Q: When is the CSA season at Blue Heron Farm?
A: Our CSA runs for about 20 weeks each year. The exact start date is weather dependent, but typically begins in mid to late May and continues through the beginning of October.

Q: Can I customize my CSA box?
A: Yes! One of the most unique aspects of our CSA is that members can choose what they’d like in their box each week.
Farm Stand & Farmers Markets

Q: When is the Blue Heron Farm Stand open?
A: Our farm stand is open Fridays 4–7 PM, and Saturdays & Sundays 10 AM–7 PM.

Q: Do you sell at farmers markets?
A: Yes, you can find us at the Bishop Paiute Tribe Market on Tuesdays, Mammoth Wednesday Market on Wednesdays, and the Bishop Thursday Farm-to-Table Market.

Q: What types of payment do you accept at Blue Heron Farm?
A: We accept card, apple pay, and cash. We also offer Blue Heron Farm gift cards, which can be used toward CSA subscriptions, farm stand items, or market purchases.
Growing Practices

Q: Is Blue Heron Farm certified organic?
A: We use regenerative, sustainable practices without use of pesticides. Our organic certification process is underway, and in the meantime our farm is committed to soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable growing.

Q: What does “regenerative farming” mean?
A: Regenerative farming goes beyond organic—it focuses on rebuilding soil health, increasing biodiversity, conserving water, and creating a closed-loop system that supports the entire ecosystem.

Q: Do you use pesticides or synthetic fertilizers on your farm?
A: No. At Blue Heron Farm we avoid synthetic chemicals. Instead, we use regenerative methods such as compost, cover crops, and natural pest management to keep our soil healthy and our produce safe.

A: Yes! We offer U-pick during the harvest season, typically from June through October, depending on weather and crop conditions. Visitors can pick their own apples, peaches, plums, pears, apricots, and more straight from the orchard and take home fresh fruit they harvested themselves.
